How to Measure Your Head for A Wig ?
Measuring your head correctly is one of the most important steps to ensure your wig fits comfortably and looks natural. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you measure your head for a wig:
🧵 What You’ll Need:
-
A soft measuring tape (fabric or tailor’s tape)
-
A mirror
-
A hair tie or clips (to keep your hair flat and secure)
-
A notepad and pen to record measurements
📏 The Six Key Measurements
1. Circumference
👉 Measures the distance around your head.
How to do it:
-
Place the measuring tape at your front hairline.
-
Wrap it around behind your ear, down to the nape of your neck, around the other ear, and back to the starting point at your forehead.
Note your measurement.
2. Front to Nape
👉 Measures the length from the front hairline to the nape.
How to do it:
-
Place the tape at the center of your front hairline.
-
Run it over the top of your head, down to the nape of your neck.
Record the length.
3. Ear to Ear (Across Forehead)
Measures the distance from one ear to the other across your forehead.
How to do it:
-
Start at the top of one ear, go across your forehead to the top of the other ear.
4. Ear to Ear (Over Top)
Measures from one ear to the other over the top of your head.
How to do it:
-
Start at the top of one ear, run the tape over the crown of your head, to the top of the opposite ear.
5. Temple to Temple (Around Back)
Measures from one temple to the other around the back of your head.
How to do it:
-
Place the tape at one temple, run it around the back of your head, just above the occipital bone, to the other temple.
6. Nape of Neck
Measures the width of your neck where the wig will sit.
How to do it:
-
Place the tape at one side of the bottom hairline, across to the other side of the hairline.
