How To Maintain Your Colored Human Hair Wigs

Just like your hair, your colored wig needs a little extra love and attention if you want it to last a long time. We don't want our colorful human hair wigs to fade and become tangled and frizzy after a few weeks of not caring for them. Here are pro tips and maintenance advice from our professional stylists.

1. Minimize the frequency of washing your colored human hair wigs

The more you wash the wig, the shorter its lifespan and the faster it fades - it's a fact! It's important to care for and wash your colored human hair wigs regularly, about every 6-8 weeks or 7-10 times, depending on how often you wear your wig and how many styling products you use. Well, skip the frequent washes. With meticulous care, our sterly colored wigs will last longer.

2. Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner for coloring hair

Do not run the risk of removing moisture and dye from your wig with sulfated shampoos and conditioners. Try a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner with color protection to prevent fading and drying of your wig. Our human hair has been bleached & dyed and processed several times during production, so the colorful human hair wigs have a shorter lifespan compared to other non-vivid-colored human hair wigs, even if they're all made of the same-quality Remy human hair. So always remember to deep condition your colorful human hair wigs with color-protected conditioner.

3. Wash your wig by using cool water.

Try shampooing your wig with cool or slightly warm water, then rinse with cold water after conditioning. The warm water will allow the shampoo and conditioner to penetrate and cleanse. In contrast, the cold water will help seal in the moisture from your conditioner while preventing color from fading by sealing the hair's cuticle.
